Spire, Edwards Street Fellowship Center to offer energy efficiency kits, financial assistance resources
Nov. 12 event is also an opportunity for families to apply for food pantry services
HATTIESBURG (Nov. 6, 2024) – Spire and the Edwards Street Fellowship Center are hosting a community assistance event Nov. 12. Representatives from both organizations will be onsite to provide energy efficiency kits and connect eligible families with energy assistance information and food pantry services.
The event at Edwards Street Fellowship Center, 1919 Edwards Street will be 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., and energy efficiency kits will be available while supplies last and are limited to one kit per household.
"We are excited Spire is offering free energy efficiency kits for our food pantry clients. Household budgets are stretched thin these days, and saving on your energy bill means more money in your pocket to pay rent, put fuel in your car, or feed your family,” said Ann McCullen, Executive Director, Edwards Street Fellowship Center.
“These kits provide insulation for pipes, doors and switches, among other supplies that make an immediate difference in your energy use,” said Freddie Triplett, senior representative, business development with Spire Mississippi. “Making simple steps like this around the home allows families to take control of their energy use and ultimately save on their monthly bill.”
Individuals not currently enrolled with the Edwards Street food pantry can apply for food services at the walk-in event. For pantry services, applicants need to bring a photo ID and live in the Edwards Street service area (Covington, Forrest, Jasper, Jeff Davis, Jones, Lamar, or Wayne County).
