Bayless School District students have a new, safer way to enjoy the outdoors and travel to school.
Spire and Trailnet recently collaborated on a new biking and walking trail for students in the Bayless School District in South St. Louis County. Spire volunteers helped build the trail through a Day for Good volunteer project, and Spire provided funding for the project through a grant from its Spire Serves program.
St. Louis nonprofit Trailnet aims to create healthy, active communities where walking, bicycling and use of public transit are a way of life.
School district staff said the trail will help make a safer environment for students as they bike and walk during physical education. It will also provide a safe outlet for students to get to and from school.
“Spire recognizes the importance of promoting healthy lifestyles and building more walkable, bikeable infrastructure. Trailnet’s new biking trail project reflects a broader commitment to fostering sustainable communities and aligns with Spire’s dedication to the environment.”
